Artistic Passion and Purpose ("APP") (also known as the community partners of Rutgers Express Newark) is an organization of creatives whose goal is to encourage, embrace, and empower the community through courses and services in clothing construction (sewing), hair styling, makeup artistry, vocal training, dance, fitness, and self-expression. Our mission is to give our community of "Artist" and "all surrounding the arts" guidance, skill enhancement, and assist them in career branding. Our tutorials, courses and events are $0-$10 to the public. Course range from ages 6-96. We host weekly guest instructors, virtual classes, fashionable events, seminars, etc.

Artistic Passion and Purpose was founded by celebrity hairstylist Michael DeVon in 2017. "APP" derived from community content photo shoots held in Shine Portrait Studios (located on the 3rd level of Express Newark) bi-monthly with photographers, makeup artist, hair stylist, designers, etc. As time went on the attendance of creatives started to grow. Michael one day posed the question to everyone...."What would this look like as a consistent after work fashion event?" These events (also held in Shine Portrait Studios) were executed beautifully and quickly grew into the organization know as Artistic Passion and Purpose. In 2019 "APP" became the new community partners of Rutgers Express Newark giving them a home base or what most would call an "artistic incubator space". This organization offers courses and services in sewing, hair, makeup, voice, dance, fitness, and self-expression.
